Fusion Of Dance Festival Outdoor 2012

Sun, smiling happy people and many stages: this outdoor edition of the Fusion Of Dance Festival was a big success. The line-up was big to have enough different music styles for everybody. The location – Wythmenerplas Zwolle – was perfect too: different beaches, water, forest. The perfect party place in the sun.
To me as the photographer a heavy job: a strict time table, trying to make as much different impressions as possible and as quick as possible. After the day was gone, I had no legs anymore, but it was worth it – for sure.
To light the DJ’s on stage I used bare bulb flashes, each connected to a PocketWizard FLEXTT5. On cam I had a PocketWizard MiniTT1 with an AC3 Zone Controller on top of it. This way I could adjust the power of my flashes straight from my camera, for the first time at a Fusion Of Dance festival.
A tip for you as a photographer if you want to do it too: make sure to check the configuration of your transmitters and receivers. The camera detection is set on “Auto” on factory settings, but then the timings are sub-optimal. Make sure to select your exact camera model for the best timings.
I did not, so on some pictures I had dark parts because of the missing synchronization timings during high speed sync. A good lesson for the next time.
The festival was one long day and evening. I could only do a modest part of the big lineup, so I did the softer styles as I like the ambient and the vibe there. Of course my favorite gogo dancers were also on board. 🙂
Thanks to the following Fusion Of Dance DJ’s to welcome me on stage, doing my thing:

- Cinnaman
